Our Guidelines
Consent Requirements
Participants must provide parental consent with a signed consent form (found here or in the video submission form). By submitting, you agree that your video may be displayed anywhere, online or in-person. We will collect name, age, grade, contact info, and mailing address during submission (used only for grant reporting).
Content
Video content must be original and relevant to the chosen theme, and can include graphics, animations, images, live filming, etc. (It must be appropriate for any audience; no gore or violence). Participants are not required to feature themselves or their names in the video. Please obtain permission from others before filming them.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
AI-generated videos or images are strictly prohibited. Any such content will result in disqualification. We prefer no AI use, but if you used AI for anything else, please describe how it was utilized.
Format
Videos must be submitted to the video submission form as a YouTube link with public access. For guidance on how to create a youtube video, you can check out this site.
Sources
Cite sources used for information/video content (any citation style is fine) and give credit to licensed content such as music and graphics. Cite AI use and describe how it was utilized. You can include the credits at the end of the video.
Participants
Participants must live in San José, California and/or be middle or high school students in schools in San José. A maximum of 5 participants can work together on one submission.
Duration
Video duration falls under 2 categories: short and long. Short videos are 2-5 minutes, and long videos are 3-5 minutes. These categories will be judged separately.
